Chimaera (pronounced Ky-meer-ra) Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of the Creative Quarter. We aim to represent the work of many artists - particularly from the local area, but also from further afield.

The gallery itself comprises a large main space which is primarily used for group exhibitions of art from a wide range of media. In addition, there is a good sized Inner Room which is available for rent by individuals or small groups wishing to hold their own exhibition.

As well as paintings, we will be selling a range of selected gift items such as hand made cards and exquisite jewellery. You are very welcome to come in and browse!

We take an enormous pride in the products exhibited in our gallery, and hope that you'll find something that you like. We also can arrange for commissions or customised orders; call or email and let us know what you want.

We look forward to doing business with you.

Who we are:

Allison Esson is a local artist, who has been painting as a hobby for many years, but only recently has begun to exhibit and sell her work, which is mainly oil paintings. She is a member of the Go Folkestone Community Arts Committee and the Folkestone Artists Co-operative and was recently awarded first prize in a charity art competition organised by White Cliffs Creative Guild in Dover.

Maiuko is a successful singer / songwriter with a vast network of contacts in the world of showbusiness.   She has been involved in local community music projects with Folkestone's Creative Foundation, and international events with UNICEF and The Red Cross. She is also a member of the Swazi Royal family and speaks 5 languages.

Lynne Smith is a local business woman, arts enthusiast and staunch supporter of regeneration in Folkestone from the outset. She is Vice President of Go Folkestone and Chair of that organisation's Community Arts Committee. She is also a local school governor, a former Town Councillor and Deputy President of the Workers Education Association - the longest running Adult Education provider in the country.

Wendy van Halderen-Moss is a Commercial Solicitor and Photographer / Fine Artist. She is a member of the Enterprise Gateway Women's business committee (WAG) and is also a member of both Go Folkestone Community Arts Committee and is Chair of the Folkestone Artists Co-operative. Wendy has completed an HND in Photography and is currently studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art at Ashford School of Art & Design (with a particular interest in contemporary Curation) which she will complete in June 2008.
